4 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT WAKANDA

Wakanda is a fascinating place, but it is amazing just how little we actually know about it. Today we’ll be taking a deeper look into the kingdom and finding out more about the place that brought forth the Black Panther, here are four things you probably did not know about Wakanda.

WAKANDA IS A DEMOCRATIC NATION

Until recently the country was ruled by the monarchy and that was just fine until it’s near complete destruction at the hands of Namor. After the crisis people began to question whether the Panther was enough to protect the Kingdom.

After a series of riots and terrorist attacks it was decided the best option was to go democratic, of course the Monarchs still maintained some influence, even though their roles would be merely ceremonial from that point on.

THE ORIGINATORS

Before humans arrived on what would later become Wakanda, the land was initially inhabited by beings that would later be referred to as Originators. The Originators included the serpentine Simbi, ape-like Vayan, the arachnoid Anansi and finally what would later be called the Creeping doom.

They co-existed peacefully with the humans until war broke out as a result of men abusing the land. Unfortunately for them the humans with the aid of the gods of Wakanda won, finally defeating them and banishing them from the country.

P.R.I.D.E

During her reign as queen, Shuri created and worked closely with PRIDE (Princess Regent Intelligence Division Executives), they are basically the Wakandan version of Shield. Armed with an elaborate spy network and far reaching intelligence PRIDE works diligently to secure Wakanda’s borders and protect it’s people.

WAKANDA HAS THE HIGHEST LITERARY RATE

Identity

With most of the country’s population if not all of it been literate, Wakanda boasts the highest literacy rate in the world. That should come as no surprise considering it is the most technologically advanced nation on the planet.

All this is probably aided by the fact that University education in the country is free. I’d definitely recommend doing a masters at the Wakandan School for alternative studies!
