First up no, Inosuke is not a girl! Second major spoilers ahead!! Now that that’s out of the way, Inosuke is without a doubt one of the more colorful characters in Demon slayer and that’s saying a lot.

Over the course of the anime and the manga, fans have come to love him and for good reason, then again with Inosuke’s birthday falling on April 22nd he happens to be a taurus so I guess it comes as no surprise. Today we’ll be discussing ten things you should know about Inosuke Hashibara.

HIS NAME MEANS GREAT HELP

Inosuke’s surname contains the Kanji for break(Hashi) and broad(bara) and his first first name contains the kanji for the word help or assistance (suke). The ino in his first name also resembles the japanese word for boar having his name roughly translate as “great help that arrives in time” or something of a sort.

One thing is for certain, Inosuke is one guy you’d be glad to have in your corner.

INOSUKE IS FROM AN ABUSIVE HOUSEHOLD.

Inosuke’s mother Kotoha Hashibara gave birth to him when she was only 17. His father and her mother-in-law were extremely abusive towards her. Maltreating and bullying her when ever they had the opportunity. It got so bad she had to flee the house with Inosuke, even walking barefoot in the freezing snow just because she had to get out of there.

HIS MUM WAS PART OF A CULT

After fleeing from her husband Kotoha would find shelter with the Paradise faith cult. She would join them becoming one of the worshippers of Doma, the second upper moon. Kotoha would later be forced to flee again after discovering he was a demon eating his cult members. This lady just could not get a break!

HE EATS LIKE A BOAR

Anime characters with voracious appetites are nothing new, from Goku to Naruto and demon slayers own Rengoku, our heroes love to eat and why not? They deserve it! Inosuke is no exception. He enjoys tempura’s and has even tried to eat his messanger crow on several occasions. The poor thing now remains hidden in fear for it’s life.

INOSUKE IS THE INVENTOR OF BEAST BREATHING.

Inosuke uses a unique breathing style in combat, beast breathing. As far as we know it’s a completely new breathing technique that complements his nature. Beast breathing is wild, rough and unpredictable, much like Inosuke himself and his development of the form is a testament of his skill as a warrior.

INOSUKE SHARES A VOICE ACTORS WITH KIRITO

Inosuke shares both his voice actors with Sword art online’s Kirito. You heard right, the two share both their Japanese and English voice actors, pretty neat right. Mamiko Noto served as their Japanese voice actor and Jennie Kwan as their English. Funny how the two have very little in common, with the exception been you wouldn’t want to cross blades with either of them.

HE IS REALLY POPULAR

Okay it does not take a genius to figure this one out but Inosuke is a popular character and when I say popular, I mean really popular, ranking up there with Tanjiro,Nezuko, Zenitsu, Giyu and Rengoku. Inosuke ranked as the 5th most popular character in fan polls and later on fell by only one position ranking as the sixth. So yeah, he’s pretty popular.

INOSUKE IS ONE OF THE FEW PEOPLE WHO CAN MAKE AOI SMILE.

Aoi is a character not known for smiling very often. She usually maintains a stern demeanor, been very tough on Tanjiro and the gang when they were under her tutelage. You can however catch her laughing when Inosuke pulls one of his antics now. It’s no wonder Aoi is now Inosuke’s wife. You heard that right, she goes by Mrs Hashibara now!

HE HAS DIFFICULTY REMEMBERING NAMES

This is a bad trait of his, apart from his extremely volatile nature and very short temper Inosuke is remarkably terrible at remembering names, usually attempting six to seven times before getting it right. He does get better fortunately, especially when it comes to those he deals with regularly.

HE’S STRONG…REALLY STRONG…

Yes incase you did not know, Inosuke is an absolute beast! As already stated he developed his own breathing technique. In addition to that he has gone toe to toe and held his own against some pretty terrifying villains including Uppermoon two Doma. So yes when we say he’s a beast, we absolutely mean it, then again everyone knows it!
